            <title>Chances Boat Race A Success</title>

&lt;P align=left&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; A little elbow grease, a few late nights, duct tape and lots of cardboard.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;This was the secret recipe to 15 boats that raced in the First Annual CHANCES of Stone County Cardboard Boat Race &amp;amp; Demolition Derby which was held Saturday, August 7, held in Fisher Cove on Table Rock Lake at Kimberling Inn.&lt;/P&gt; 
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Pete Peterson, board member of CHANCES, hatched the idea of the race after hearing about similar competitions.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;Cardboard boat races are done all over the country.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;They’re just a fun competition!&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;CHANCES plans to make Saturday’s race an annual event and hopes that next year’s event will double in size.&lt;/P&gt; 
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; CHANCES (Community Helping Able Neighborhood Citizens Experience Success) of Stone County is focused on enhancing the lives of Stone County residents with developmentally disabilities.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;All funds raised during this event will stay in Stone County.&lt;/P&gt; 
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Some of the winners were:&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;Fastest:&amp;nbsp; Sea Seeker, First Baptist Church, Walgreens Warriors&lt;/P&gt; 
&lt;P&gt;Best Titanic Sinking:&amp;nbsp; Sea Seeker, USS Keystone, Blondie’s&lt;/P&gt; 
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;Demolition Derby:&amp;nbsp; 3-way tie…The Kindly Viking, Lion’s Club &amp;amp; Walgreens Warriors&lt;/P&gt; 
&lt;P&gt;Top Contributor’s:&amp;nbsp; Individual-Sea Seeker, Team-USS D-Day, Corporate-Ahoy’s w/2&lt;SUP&gt;nd&lt;/SUP&gt;&amp;nbsp;place going to the Poker Run&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt; 
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; “Many who watched the event said they’d be willing to try their hand at building a cardboard boat next year.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;This event was a huge success for our new non-profit group.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;We rose over $3,000 thanks to many local sponsors and friends/family’s contributions” said President, Cathy Jo Peterson.&lt;/P&gt;
